Mac Users - You might have to use one of the available software utilities, like Packtype from Steve Weyer, to restore the appropriate resource information to these packages, if I give it to you as a .pkg or as a zip file that you unstuff with Aladdin's UnStuffit. .Sit.Hqx files should be ok for Mac users. Windows people - you should be fine.

Everyone knows by now that the Newton can do incredible things, and that there is an extension out there called Text-To-Speech. Everyone knows where to get it now.. if you don't, try here or here, I can't give it out... Many people have wondered.. "Why can't I have my Newton read books to me then? Well now you can... And now may I present... Bernie's BookReader 2.5... for all 2.1 OS machines (with the TTS extensions) which means only MP2x00 and E-mates.. Version 2.0 works with most Newton Book and Paperback formats. Now you can save bookmarks.. Version 2.1 you can reset and save Voice, Rate and Pitch settings. Version 2.2 orders and removes duplicates from the mark list. Version 2.3 added a minimize button as well as the new MarksAssist 1.0 which for now comes with BookReader and will allow for bookmark deletion as well as descriptive labels.. Version 2.4 fixes the problem with chapters that have the same name.. Version 2.5 fixes -48418 errors when starting up bookreader.. Let me know if there is anything else you want to see added.. But you got to register this one now, cause I've put some serious time into it, and my unemployment ran out so I need the cash, but it's only $10.. Registered users will also always be the first to see the new stuff as it comes along... If you are looking for some good books to read, try AMUG or Project Newtonberg.

New!!! A Fine addition to my freeware apps is my new NewtLibs... Remeber those old DamLibs (the first part is backwards as to avoid any law suits from Penguin... well here is the newton answer to them... You can add your own and trade them with your friends by e-mail!! Will read it to you with the TTS extensions if ya have them installed... There are also tons of places on the web that will generate libs for you that can easily be pasted into a Notes note to be imported into the NewtLib Reader...Version 1.3 should fix the -48205 problems... Version 1.2 should fix the -48204 problems... If you need some places to find libs at Yahoo is a good place to start. The readme file below will teach you how to grab them to use...

Another piece of Freeware!!! An updated version of my first released product: My Menora 05...a chanukah menorah for your newton...the full version only works between 3-8 pm during the nights of chanukah 2005....but I figured some of the non jews might like it too, and they might even learn something by reading the prayers...it should work on all newtonOS 2.x machines. (In landscape mode)
