Welcome to this constantly changing page based upon the building of a model D.Va 1917 Albatross... As I build the model I will place new pics to show my progress...

The Finished Product (As Shown On Box)

Step One - Upper Wing

First the ribs are stiffened, then cap strips are put on the outside edges..

Next the ribs are fitted to the front and rear spars.

The false spars and leading edge are then added.. The next step is a tricky one. A wing must have wing tips (or there would be no shoes!!) that are round, so 3 strips of 1 x 5 mm are soaked in water for about 2 hours, then bent around pins used as a form, and pinned in place, then I let it dry for 24 hours before gluing together. Once this was dry it was spliced into the leading edge. The entire front surface of the wing is square now, and must be sanded and rounded to form an aerodynamic curve. The center trailing edge is made in the same way as the tips, soaked..formed..and glued together, then added to the rear of the wing and rounded. Then the rear trailing edge rod is added and secured using aluminum strips.

This shows the formed parts for the wing tips and center trailing in greater detail after they have been spliced and rounded.
